  
ITINERARY
Day 1: Varadero-Havana
Arrival
Varadero Airport. Welcome and transfer to Havana. Accommodation and
dinner in selected hotel. Option to arrive in Havana. Welcome and
transfer. Accommodation and dinner at selected hotel.
Day 2: Havana
Breakfast. Briefing and
information meeting on the day-to-day itinerary for the week. The
tour starts with sightseeing of the historical part of the city
founded in 1515. Visit Plaza de Armas, El Templete, Mercaderes
Street, The Palace of the Captain Generals, Cathedral Square, the
world famous Bodeguita del Medio. Continue to Modern Havana by Bus,
visit a Rum Factory. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch depart
for the fishing village of Cojimar. Visit the Hemingway museum.
Return to the hotel and dinner.
Day 3: Havana - Vinales
Breakfast.
Morning departure to Vinales in the Province of Pinar del Rio,
Cuba's western region, an agricultural and tobacco growing area. On
the way, a short sightseeing tour of the city of Pinar del Rio and a
visit to a cigar factory. Continue to the Valley of Vinales to
admire the landscape with its unique knolls called mogotes. Lunch at
a local restaurant. Visit the Mural de la Prihistoria and La Cueva
del Indio (optional- take a boat ride along the underground river to
see the inside of the cave). Accommodation and dinner at a selected
hotel in the valley.
Day 4: Vinales - Las Terrazas -
Havana
Breakfast. Morning departure to Las Terrazas Tourist
Complex a Biosphere Reserve located in the Sierra del Rosario. On
arrival a welcome drink at the grill of the Moka with a short
briefing on the complex and its flora and fauna. Visit Las Terrazas
Community to know its artists, workshops and members. Next visit La
Canada del Infierno to see the ruins of French coffee plantations
and sulfurous springs of the Bayate River. Visit the Buena Vista
Coffee House built on top of a mountain and learn how coffee was
processed for production. Lunch at Las Ruinas Restaurant. Return to
Havana. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: Havana - Guama - Santa Clara -
Cienfuegos
Breakfast. Depart for Santa Clara. En-route visit
Guama located in the heart of the "Treasure Lake" which is the
largest natural lake in Cuba. Guama is a reconstruction of a Taino
Indian Village where the dwellings are built over the lake on stilts
and connected with the mainland by wooden bridges. Continue the
visit to La Boca at the entrance of the channel to see the
crocodile-breeding farm. Afterwards lunch is served at La Boca
Restaurant. Continue to Santa Clara to visit the Ernesto Che Guevara
Mausoleum and Leoncio Vidal Park. Drive to Cienfuegos on arrival
check in at the selected hotel and dinner. Evening at leisure.
Day 6: Cienfuegos
Breakfast.
Sightseeing tour of Cienfuegos founded in 1819 by the French
settlers. Depart for Topes de Callantes Mountains Community. Visit
the lookout "Loma Ventana". From Topes continue by all terrain
trucks via "La Sierrita Valley", passing rural communities to
"Charco Azul" where the hiking trail "Sentinelas del Rio Melodioso"
begins. The trail has exuberant vegetation, waterfalls, exclusive
birds, native flora and water pools with running tranquil streams.
Lunch is served at a beautiful Farm House "La Gallega".
Accommodation and dinner at the selected hotel in Topes.
Day 7: Topes de Collantes - Trinidad
Breakfast. Departure to Trinidad. Sightseeing tour of one of the
first townships founded by the Spaniards in the early 16th Century,
declared by UNESCO a world Heritage Cultural Site. Visit the hold
historical area with its coblestone streets, Main Square surrounded
by colonial buildings and its museums. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Accommodation and dinner at a local selected hotel.
Day 8: Trinidad - Varadero
Breakfast.
Depart for Varadero. On arrival either transfer to a hotel if stay
is extended or transfer to Varadero or Havana airport for the
departure flight. |
